REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. (AP) - A Delaware woman is accused of assaulting three people outside a Rehoboth Beach bar and then fighting a police officer who tried to stop her.

The News Journal of Wilmington reports 21-year-old Michelle Villa was arrested Sunday on charges including assault.

Rehoboth Beach spokeswoman Lt. Jaime B. Riddle says police responded that night to the fight and one of the officers struggled with Villa before she was handcuffed.

She says the officer was arresting someone else in the fight when he noticed Villa had freed one of her hands and was attempting to escape. Riddle says the officer was minorly injured in the ensuing fight before Villa was detained.

Court records say Villa was arrested earlier this month on charges including riot. The circumstances surrounding that arrest are unclear.
