President Trump will award the presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor, to golfer Tiger Woods on Monday, the White House confirmed.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said the event in the Rose Garden will be invitation-only and will be covered by the media. She called Mr. Woods a “world-renowed golfer.”
Mr. Woods is an occasional golfing buddy of the president. He played with the president and legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus at the president’s golf course in Florida in February.
He also recently completed a comeback by winning the Masters tournament in April, his fifth Masters title.
