ELKO, Nev. (AP) - A former newspaper executive and publisher in Colorado has been named the new publisher of the Elko Daily Free Press in northeast Nevada and the Times-News in Twin Falls, Idaho.

Matt Sandberg’s appointment was announced Wednesday by Lee Enterprises, the newspaper chain that owns the two papers he’ll oversee. He succeeds Kevin Kampman, who left the company in March.

The Daily Free Press reports Sandberg most recently was director of marketing and innovation for Swift Communications in Frisco, Colorado. A youth literacy advocate and supporter of youth journalism programs, he’ll be based in Twin Falls.

Sandberg was publisher of the Summit Daily News and Ski Hi News in Frisco from 2010-16. He previously was director of sales for the Vail Daily and Summit Daily News in Vail, Colorado.
