FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - Colorado State University instructors are using a petition to demand better pay.

The Coloradoan reported Wednesday that the petition started in April has been signed by more than 1,100 people.

The petition calls on the university to raise minimum salaries for nontenure-track teachers.

Instructors are hired as tenure-track or nontenure-track faculty, which have different requirements.

The demands include raises for all full-time faculty members to at least $52,000 per year, a minimum increase for full-time assistant professors or senior instructors to $60,000 per year and a minimum raise for full-time faculty promoted to associate professor or master instructor to $66,000 per year.

The university emailed a statement saying it shares the goal of raising pay, improving job security, creating advancement opportunities, and giving a greater voice for nontenure-track faculty.
