MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - The Vermont Legislature will be working into overtime this session.
Mynbc.com reports that Statehouse leaders announced Thursday that they will be working beyond this final budgeted week of the session.
A number of issues remained unresolved, including a new budget for state government and bills to raise the minimum wage and start a paid family leave program for Vermont workers. Long-term funding for the state’s clean water initiative was also unresolved.
Democratic House Speaker Mitzi Johnson says she’s gotten little guidance from Republican Gov. Phil Scott on where he’s willing to compromise. Scott says the Democrats control the House and Senate and they haven’t completed key bills over which to start negotiating.
