BELLEVUE, Wash. (AP) - Police say an 18-year-old Bellevue College student was arrested in connection with a threat that led the school to cancel classes and evacuate the campus.

The Seattle Times reports students received an email from Bellevue College President Jerry Weber announcing the closure around 3 p.m. Thursday. Social media posts and a campus alert were then sent out.

Bellevue police spokeswoman Meeghan Black says the decision to close the school came after a student sent an email to the school containing a threat.

Black says the email followed a classroom argument Wednesday between the student, another student and a teacher, during which the student made threatening statements.

Black says the threats were directed at the school at large.

Police arrested the student in Duvall Thursday. Black says a Duvall police officer was injured during the arrest
