LAS VEGAS (AP) - A Las Vegas casino owner and Nevada’s primary electricity provider have made amends after fighting for years over the hotelier’s effort to unplug from the public grid and buy its power elsewhere.

Las Vegas Sands Corp. and NV Energy officials said Tuesday the utility will continue to serve Sands’ flagship Venetian and Palazzo resorts on the Las Vegas Strip.

The agreement announced Monday comes after Las Vegas Sands applied in 2016 to quit NV Energy, and a year after the two sides squared off in nearly $100 million initiative battle that would have broken NV Energy’s monopoly.

The announcement stresses renewable and sustainable energy plans.

The Nevada Public Utilities Commission had set a $23.9 million exit fee for Las Vegas Sands to leave NV Energy to compensate for costs on remaining ratepayers.
