CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - After vetoing two high-profile bills, Republican Gov. Chris Sununu has signed into law a batch of other, far less controversial bills.
The governor’s office said Friday that Sununu signed 17 bills, including one that removes the requirement that driver’s licenses be in color. Another bill affects a single town - Kingston was given permission to hold a 30-foot bonfire featuring an old car atop a pile of lumber. The town had a nearly 50-year tradition of massive bonfires until the late 1980s. It needed permission to revive the tradition for the town’s 325th anniversary celebration this summer.
Sununu last week vetoed a bill abolishing the death penalty and on Thursday vetoed a paid family leave bill. Lawmakers appear to have the votes to override the death penalty bill but not the other.
