Rep. Will Hurd called for special counsel Robert Mueller to testify about his investigation into Russia’s involvement in the 2016 presidential election, saying his testimony “can settle things” in the House.
“You know we’re talking about a report, one dude’s opinion written by another dude. Let’s have that dude that wrote the report come to Congress and talk about that and people get to ask him questions,” the Texas Republican said on CNN’s “New Day” show.
One of those “dudes” is most likely Attorney General William P. Barr, who has testified about Mr. Mueller’s findings while the special counsel has not.
Mr. Hurd has differed from his fellow Republicans who have called for the end of investigations into President Trump and Russia.
Senate Majority Leader Mitchell McConnell declared “case closed” on the Mueller investigation and called for Congress to “move on.”
