Maryland Terrapins fans have seen the last of Bruno Fernando — at least at the college level.
Fernando announced on Twitter Wednesday that he will remain in the NBA draft.
THANK YOU MARYLAND FOR EVERYTHING. ❤️❤️🐢🙏🏾.

I LOVE YOU GUYS FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART. pic.twitter.com/DNZ48IQ34m
Coming off his sophomore campaign in College Park, Fernando had until June 11 to decide to withdraw from the draft and return to Maryland.
The 6-foot-10 forward averaged 13.6 points and 10.6 rebounds per game in 2018-19. He recorded 22 double-doubles, tied for second most of any player in Division I last season.
“Maryland has helped me to grow more than I could have ever imagined,” Fernando wrote. “I am forever grateful to have had the opportunity to wear this jersey and represent the name across my chest.”
The basketball program tweeted this thank-you video once the news was official:
For all the thunderous jams.

For all the high fives.
For all the monstrous blocks.
For all the passion.
For all the energy.
Thank you, Bruno. #CWM // #ForeverATerp pic.twitter.com/hccWjlLu6S
Fernando ranks second in Terrapins program history in career field goal percentage (.595) and tied for eighth in blocks per game (1.6).
He is looking to become the first native of Angola to be drafted into the NBA. Mock drafts generally peg him as a late first-rounder.
