WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - State officials say a Delaware man has pleaded guilty to stabbing and killing a woman in a portable toilet in 2017.

The News Journal of Wilmington reports the state Justice Department announced Friday that 40-year-old Timothy D. Jones pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony. He originally was charged with first-degree murder.

The body of 31-year-old Rashawna Weathers’ body was found Oct. 1, 2017, inside a portable toilet in Wilmington. Police traced a trail of blood from the murder scene to Jones’ apartment complex.

Court documents obtained by the newspaper in 2017 showed Jones had served 11 years in prison for stabbing another woman more than 15 years ago and was on probation.
