Fox News anchorman Chris Wallace says there is a simple reason why the Democratic National Committee wants to avoid primary debates on the network: “Fox Derangement Syndrome.”
DNC Chairman Tom Perez blamed an “inappropriate relationship” between President Trump and Fox News this week for the organization’s Democratic primary debate snub, but Mr. Wallace says the more likely rationale is an ideological sickness.
“You know how we talk about ’Trump derangement syndrome,’ or [related issues with] Obama?” he asked Thursday on Fox News Radio with Brian Kilmeade. “I think that, in the left wing of the Democratic Party, there is ’Fox derangement syndrome.’ “
A statement by Mr. Perez on Wednesday referenced a piece by The New Yorker, which claimed a 2016 story on porn star Stormy Daniels’ claims of an affair with the billionaire was spiked to protect his presidential campaign.
A statement by Fox’s Senior Vice President Bill Sammon echoed Mr. Wallace, The Daily Caller reported.
“We hope the DNC will reconsider its decision to bar Chris Wallace, Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum, all of whom embody the ultimate journalistic integrity and professionalism, from moderating a Democratic presidential debate,” Mr. Sammon’s statement read. “They’re the best debate team in the business and they offer candidates an important opportunity to make their case to the largest TV news audience in America, which includes many persuadable voters.”
