With the Washington Capitals’ win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday night, Braden Holtby became the second-fastest goaltender to reach 250 career wins in NHL history.
Holtby earned his 250th win in his 409th game. Only Ken Dryden, the Hockey Hall of Famer who played for Montreal in the 1970s, reached that milestone faster.

The Capitals raced out to a 5-0 lead and beat Philadelphia 5-3 for their fifth straight win Wednesday.
Holtby has been the Capitals’ regular starting goalie since starting most of their games in the lockout-shortened 2012-13 season. To date, he is best known for “The Save,” a stunning stick save in the final minutes of Game 5 of the 2018 Stanley Cup Final that preserved Washington’s victory.
