SPENCER, W.Va. (AP) - Authorities in West Virginia are trying to find out who took thousands of dollars’ worth of copper from an American Electric Power facility.

Roane County Sheriff Todd Cole told WSAZ-TV in Huntington that someone got into the property in the Amma community by cutting a hole in the fence. Cole said a roll of copper valued at about $17,000 is missing. The location is about 30 miles northeast of Charleston.

No suspect information has been released. The sheriff’s office said anyone with information should call (304) 927-3410.
