Is there room on the Philadelphia Phillies for two stars on mega-contracts? Bryce Harper seems to think so.

Harper said in no uncertain terms during a radio interview that he will recruit Mike Trout to join him on the Phillies once Trout’s current contract expires.

“If you don’t think I’m gonna call Mike Trout to come to Philly in 2020, you’re crazy,” Harper told 94 WIP.

Trout, a two-time American League MVP, has spent his entire career with the Los Angeles Angels thus far. He has two years left on his deal there, meaning Harper is referring to the free agency following the 2020 season.

One of the best players in the sport, Trout is expected to command interest and probably will break Harper’s record-setting deal of $330 million. But he’s also a native of South Jersey who grew up a Philadelphia sports fan, so he might be partial to signing with the Phillies at whatever salary they offer.
