Oh. My. Gosh.

What genius conceived this? Denim panties, high-cut with pockets, are now selling for $470 per pair, thanks be the Parisian fashionista brand, Y/Project, TribLive reported. And you thought we’d seen the end of dubious denim cuts with the phase-out of Nordstrom’s plastic-kneed mom pants.

Let’s hope this newest Barbie doll street tramp look dies a quick death.

“Two words,” wrote Ssense, the retailer showcasing the new wear, on Instagram. “Denim panties.”

All the sane women of the world go: Why?

Yet the not-so-sane apparently have a leg up here. The style’s sold out in sizes medium, large, extra-large and, yes extra-extra large, Fox News reported.

XXL indeed. There’s an image that won’t erase so easily.

Sales to the side, Twitter is mocking mercilessly.

“Gross,” one tweeted.

“Just no,” wrote another.

And yet a third: “To what occasion can you actually wear denim panties???”

There’s a good question.

A better one: What’s it going to take to keep the world of fashion on planet earth?

Here’s one answer: Buyers who stop encouraging the ridiculous. Power to the purse, people. Power to the purse.
