OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A University of Oklahoma professor is suing the university’s governing board and top administrators, alleging she was demoted because of her outspoken criticism of new leadership at the institution.
The lawsuit filed Thursday in federal court by professor Suzette Grillot also alleges gender-based wage discrimination.
Defendants include the OU Board of Regents, President James Gallogly and Provost Kyle Harper.
Grillot has openly criticized the board’s selection process for picking Gallogly as president, and she publicly called for his resignation earlier this year during a student rally.
Grillot contends that criticism led to her losing her position as dean of OU’s College of International Studies, along with other roles and responsibilities.
A university spokeswoman says once the complaint is received, OU will respond in court that the university acted appropriately.
