SOUTH FULTON, Ga. (AP) - A man who owns an unlicensed landfill south of Atlanta has been given two more months to extinguish the flames at the site.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that Fulton County Superior Court Judge Constance Russell ruled Wednesday that Terry Ross Bullock has until May 20 to extinguish the uncontrolled fire.

The state of Georgia has already withdrawn $500,000 from the state’s fire cleanup fund to hire a contractor to extinguish the flames.

Neighbors in South Fulton have dealing with smoke from the site since September.

Ross previously had been arrested three times because of the fire.

The state Environmental Protection Division said Thursday it is sympathetic to the problems that residents have with the smoke and are working to resolve it as soon as possible.
