NEW YORK (AP) - Authorities say an Amtrak employee shot and killed himself after wounding a co-worker in the leg at a New York City train yard.
Police say the employee shot the worker around 8 a.m. Thursday at Amtrak’s Sunnyside Yard in Queens and then sped off and took his life in a drug store parking lot about a mile away.
Police say the 53-year-old who was wounded in the initial shooting is hospitalized in serious but stable condition.
Amtrak says its police department is aiding in the investigation. It says train operations weren’t affected.
