SPRINGFIELD, Vt. (AP) - Brattleboro Memorial Hospital says it plans to open a part-time obstetrics office in Springfield as the hospital there shuts down its birth center this year.
Brattleboro Obstetrics and Gynecology will open an office at least two days a week in Springfield that will enable expectant mothers to see a provider for pre- and post-natal care. The Valley News reports the patients at the Springfield office would deliver their babies at the hospital in Brattleboro.
Other planned services under the new arrangement include “centering pregnancy” and childbirth education classes. Springfield Hospital announced Wednesday it was closing its birthing center as the financially-struggling hospital tries to shave several million dollars of expenses from its budget.
