President Trump on Monday said special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation wound up the way it should have, and it wouldn’t bother him if the report were made public.
“Up to the attorney general,” he told reporters at the White House. “Wouldn’t bother me at all.”
Mr. Trump is taking a victory lap after a Justice Department summary of Mr. Mueller’s report found no evidence the Trump campaign colluded with Russian meddlers in the 2016 race.
He said the people who put him through the two-year ordeal should be “looked at,” saying they’ve done “evil things.”
“It was a false narrative, it was a terrible thing. We can never let this happen to another president again,” he said.
Mr. Trump railed against the Mueller probe throughout his tenure, calling it a “hoax” and “witch hunt.”
Asked on Monday whether Mr. Mueller acted honorably, Mr. Trump said, “Yes, he did.”
However, he wished it’d wrapped up sooner.
“It lasted a long time,” Mr. Trump said. “We’re glad it’s over. It’s 100 percent the way it should have been. I wish it could have gone a lot sooner, a lot quicker.”
