SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) - A Southern California man has pleaded not guilty to charges in connection with the bombing of a spa that killed his ex-girlfriend and wounded two others.
Southern California News Group reports that Stephen Beal entered the plea in federal court in Santa Ana on Monday.
Beal faces charges including use of a weapon of mass destruction and malicious destruction of a building resulting in death.
He was arrested earlier this month in connection with the May 2018 bombing of an Aliso Viejo spa that killed 48-year-old Ildiko Krajnyak.
Beal had been arrested shortly after the bombing but charges were dropped. Authorities say they arrested him again after obtaining additional evidence.
Beal’s attorney, Amy Karlin, declined to comment for the news group.
His next court hearing is May 7.
