DETROIT (AP) - The Detroit Institute of Arts is continuing a yearlong celebration of the “Arts of Asia” with a two-day event to showcase the art and culture of India.
“Celebrate India” takes place April 6-7 at the museum, where film, music, dancing, poetry readings and yoga workshops are part of the festival.
The museum’s Director Salvador Salort-Pons says in a statement that the event “allows our visitors to expand their experience of India and Southeast Asian arts and culture.” He notes the newly installed Robert and Katherine Jacobs Asian Wing offers a unique look at history and culture.
A part of the event, India’s ambassador to the U.S. Harsh Vardhan Shringla is scheduled to deliver a keynote address the afternoon of April 6 at the Detroit Film Theatre. Details are posted online .
