TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a Florida man crashed his motorcycle and later died after popping a wheelie and getting cut off by a car.
The Tampa Bay Times reports that 36-year-old Tristan Velez crashed Wednesday night on a Tampa road.
Florida Highway Patrol says Velez was approaching an intersection on his Kawasaki motorcycle when he elevated the front wheel of the bike and started riding on the back wheel.
Troopers say a car coming from the opposite direction made a left turn in front of the motorcycle, which slammed into the car. Investigators say the car’s driver didn’t see the bike, which had its headlight shining up. Velez was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
The car’s driver was treated for minor injuries. No charges were immediately reported.
