BOSTON (AP) - The state’s unemployment rate fell to 3 percent in February.
Preliminary job estimates from the Bureau of Labor Statistics show Massachusetts added 6,600 jobs in February. During the past 12 months, Massachusetts has added 20,300 jobs.
The unemployment rate in January was 3.1 percent.
The February unemployment rate in Massachusetts was eight-tenths of a percentage point lower than the national rate of 3.8 percent.
During February, the private sector added 5,600 jobs with gains in education and health services; professional, scientific, and business services; leisure and hospitality; trade, transportation, and utilities; financial activities; and construction.
Manufacturing lost jobs.
Labor and Workforce Development Secretary Rosalin Acosta said the state is experiencing job and labor force growth alongside an unemployment rate that has remained below 4 percent for 34 consecutive months.
