SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Republican Sen. Mike Lee of Utah says he’s undecided on whether to support a resolution opposing President Donald Trump’s declaration of a national emergency on U.S.-Mexico border.

Lee addressed gatherings of Utah legislators in the state Capitol in Salt Lake City on Friday, saying he agrees with Trump that there’s “a crisis at the border” but that he objects to the president’s use of executive authority to sidestep Congress and divert federal funding to spend money on building border barriers.

According to Lee, “it’s probably not a good idea to give presidents that much power.”

Lee and other members of the Republican-led Senate face having to vote on a resolution already approved by the Democrat-led House. It would terminate Trump’s executive action.
