BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A Bristol man’s whiskers have won him the title of having the best beard in Vermont.
The Burlington Free Press reports Steve Reilly won the top prize at the third-annual Vermont Beardies contest Saturday.
The event benefits Make-A-Wish Vermont, which helps grant wishes to children with life-threatening conditions.
This year’s contest had 105 entrants and raised more than $50,000.
Make-A-Wish Vermont President and CEO James Hathaway says it was the most successful Beardies event yet.
Reilly also won the prize for best backwoods beard.
Other winners were: Jim Beebe-Woodard, urban beard; Eythan Burnham, freestyle beard; Mark Chicoine, people’s choice award; and Gordie Turner, top individual fundraiser.
Winners receive a gift card for beard care products and bragging rights.
