OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - An Omaha man has been given three years of probation for a sham marriage to a woman from Tajikistan.

The Lincoln Journal Star reports that Jeremiah Logan was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court in Omaha. He’d pleaded guilty to conspiracy and aiding and abetting marriage fraud.

Prosecutors say Faisal Garba-Adenkunjo is a lawful permanent resident who spoke to Logan sometime in 2014 about marrying Farangis Gafarova so Gafarova could stay in the U.S. once her student visa expired.

Prosecutors say Logan agreed to do it for $5,000 but ultimately was paid $2,800.

Court records show the two married on Jan. 10, 2015, in Omaha.

In February Gafarova was sentenced to five years of probation and Garba-Adenkunjo was sentenced to six months behind bars.
