It didn’t take long for people to react to Mike Trout’s historic 12-year, $430 million deal with the Los Angeles Angels.
In doing so, many were quick to poke fun at Bryce Harper and Kyler Murray. Harper, of course, signed a 13-year, $330 million deal with the Philadelphia Phillies on Feb. 28 and Murray bypassed MLB entirely to play football.
Harper also had publicly said he planned on recruiting Trout to Philadelphia — which triggered a tampering investigation from MLB.
All guaranteed.

Bryce Harper: Can’t wait to call Mike Trout in 2020 so I can lure him to Philly.

Angels: *immediately sign Trout to a lifetime contract*
Bryce Harper held out to be the highest paid player and it lasted 3 weeks. Got trumped by 100 million.

I felt like Bryce Harper took on 3 extra years and lost out on opt-outs so that he could get to a new record, $330M. If he did, he did all that to hold the record for 18 days.
