Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro said Tuesday he “fully” expects President Trump to win re-election in 2020.

Speaking at the White House, Mr. Bolsonaro said the next election is an internal matter for American voters to decide.

“But I do believe Donald Trump is going to be re-elected,” he said in the Rose Garden.

“I agree,” Mr. Trump interjected, drawing smiles from both leaders.

Mr. Bolsonaro, a right-wing populist who took office on Jan. 1, said Mr. Trump’s doubters — like his own — will be proven wrong.

“I think everyone will repeat their vote here in America,” Mr. Bolsonaro said.

He forecast the results of the 2020 race in responding to a question about Democratic candidates who’ve espoused socialism or ideas that Mr. Trump has labeled as “socialist.”

Mr. Bolsonaro said U.S. voters will reject that ideology.
