A prosecutor says a Pennsylvania man should be put to death for the 2016 rape, murder and dismemberment of his girlfriend’s teenage daughter.
Bucks County District Attorney Matthew Weintraub asked a jury Friday to impose the death penalty on 46-year-old Jacob Sullivan, who pleaded guilty to all charges in the death of 14-year-old Grace Packer.
The penalty phase of Sullivan’s trial opened Friday outside Philadelphia.
Weintraub says Sullivan committed “awful, unspeakable, heinous crimes,” and made the last 24 hours of Grace’s life “a hell on earth.”
Prosecutors say Grace’s adoptive mother, Sara Packer, watched Sullivan act out a rape-murder fantasy they shared. Sara Packer has agreed to plead guilty in exchange for a life sentence.
Sullivan’s lawyer, Jack Fagan, told jurors that Sara Packer masterminded Grace’s murder. He asked jurors to sentence Sullivan to life.
