RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney and former New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu will discuss racism, the history and symbolism of Confederate monuments and other important issues during a joint appearance at the Virginia Museum of History and Culture.

The event will be held Tuesday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. It is free and open to the public.

The moderator will be Julian Hayter, an associate professor of Leadership Studies at the University of Richmond.

Landrieu will be visiting Richmond with his E Pluribus Unum initiative. The nonprofit is dedicated to bringing people together around the issues of race, equity, economic opportunity and violence.

Landrieu and his team are traveling across the South to listen to local leaders and residents about their hopes around the movement to create more equitable communities.
