The Washington Redskins signed cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie on Friday, the team announced.
Rodgers-Cromartie reportedly signed a one-year deal. The 32-year-old is coming off a short-lived retirement to join the Redskins. Last season, he played seven games for the Oakland Raiders before stepping away from the sport mid-season.
Washington was interested in signing Rodgers-Cromartie last season, as well. The cornerback came in for a visit, but did not agree to a contract — leaving the Redskins to sign Orlando Scandrick instead.
Rodgers-Cromartie will provide depth to a cornerbacks room that’s very young outside of starters Josh Norman and Quinton Dunbar.
Drafted in the first round of the 2008 draft, Rodgers-Cromartie has played for the Arizona Cardinals, Philadelphia Eagles, Denver Broncos, New York Giants and Raiders.
Speaking to the team’s website, Rodgers-Cromartie said he feels like he has a lot left in the tank.
“I still have a lot left in me.” @drc_41
