STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) - Police say a Connecticut man choked his live-in baby sitter after she told him she was going to quit.

The Stamford Advocate reports that 42-year-old Omer Ekinci, of Stamford, has been charged with assault, strangulation, risk of injury to a minor and threatening.

The Turkey national was arrested after a woman appeared at Stamford police headquarters and said he assaulted her.

The 49-year-old woman told police the two were in his car taking his sick daughter to a hospital when she said she was going to quit.

She said Ekinci became enraged and grabbed her by the throat. She says he also threatened to kill her and her family in Turkey.

Ekinci’s attorney says the man is focused only on his daughter. He’s free on $25,000 bond.
