Fox News Channel’s Tucker Carlson came out swinging Tuesday night against liberal watchdog Media Matters for America and CNN “house eunuch” Brian Stelter for their attacks on his character and on the Fox network as a whole.
The conservative pundit was still on offense this week in the wake of a Media Matters story regarding old radio appearances with “Bubba the Love Sponge,” during which Mr. Carlson spoke about women and controversial lawsuits in a manner consistent with the show’s shock-jock format.
Mr. Carlson’s commentary described the Southern Poverty Law Center, nonprofit groups supported by billionaire George Soros, liberal members in the media, and like-minded politicians as an alliance that specializes in character assassination.
Media Matters’ “sole mission is to punish critics of the Democratic Party,” Mr. Carlson said before accusing Mr. Stelter of aping the group’s work during his tenure at The New York Times.
“He’s now the house eunuch CNN announcing proclamations from his tiny king, Jeff Zucker,” the host said. “He takes his talking points, still, from Media Matters.”
Mr. Carlson, calling the CNN host “Zucker’s puppet,” then played a montage of clips lamenting Fox’s “resentment television” devoid of “decency and standards.”
“It’s about decency, cries the eunuch,” Mr. Carlson scoffed. “’We must have decency,’ by which the eunuch means less disobeying, more obedience. … This is the face of state media.”
He went on to describe the thoughts of CNN, Mr. Stelter and other liberal critics of Fox News.
“’Why does Fox even exist?’ they wonder. ’We’ve got 11 other perfectly good cable channels, all of them approved by management and obedient to the people in charge. How could anybody watch something different? Fox can’t be legitimate! They must be lying! Their viewers must be stupid!’” Mr. Carlson “concluded.”
