COROLLA, N.C. (AP) - The New England woman who owns a 24-bedroom house along North Carolina’s Outer Banks has dismissed her lawsuit after years of litigation over the $4.6 million home.
The Virginian-Pilot of Norfolk, Virginia, reports Elizabeth Letendre of Needham Heights, Massachusetts, dismissed her lawsuit over the Currituck County house on Friday. Attorney Jonathan Hall says Letendre decided to go “a different way” with the 15,000-square-foot event house that sits north of Corolla, but she’s not sure what that will be.
Challenges to the house go back five years to when it was first proposed. The county issued a building permit then withdrew it. Despite warnings, construction continued.
Most recently, Letendre lost in the state Court of Appeals, which reversed a trial court decision. The state Supreme Court denied her petition in January.
