ROSEMONT, Ill. (AP) - Authorities say a Chicago Transit Authority train hit an SUV in suburban Chicago, killing the SUV driver and injuring three people on the train.
The crash involving the Blue Line train happened Tuesday night near the Rosemont station. State police identified the deceased driver as 71-year-old Sara A. Giancola of Bartlett. Police say Giancola was driving an SUV on Interstate 190 when she lost control and rolled down an embankment, coming to rest partially on the CTA tracks. State police say the front of a Blue Line train struck the SUV.
The CTA train conductor and two passengers were taken to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
Chicago Transit Authority spokesman Brian Steele says there was no significant damage to the train. The crash halted Blue Line service between the Rosemont and O’Hare stations, but service later resumed.
