SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) - New York Yankees great Joe Torre will be a commencement speaker at Skidmore College this May.
The school announced that Torre and “Einstein’s Dreams” author Alan Lightman will speak at the May 18 commencement exercises at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.
The pair also will receive honorary degrees.
Torre won four World Series as the manager of the Yankees. As a player, he was a nine-time All-Star and the 1971 National League MVP.
Lightman is a physicist and a professor of the practice of the humanities at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
