HONOLULU (AP) - A man has died after leaping into the ocean at an isolated Hawaii cliff site.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported Thursday that the 22-year-old man died Wednesday morning after entering the water at Spitting Cave on Oahu.

Authorities say the man, who could not immediately be identified, was retrieved by a scuba diver 60 feet (18 meters) underwater.

Officials say ocean conditions Wednesday morning were dangerous.

Authorities say a 21-year-old was in critical condition after being rescued at Spitting Cave Saturday.

The fatality was the sixth time in two weeks authorities responded to swimmers in trouble at Spitting Cave and at China Walls.

Honolulu Ocean Safety officials have urged the public to refrain from jumping into the ocean at the isolated spots, which are both in the Portlock neighborhood of Honolulu.
