SEATTLE (AP) - A 20-year-old man suspected of firing shots that injured a woman and two children at a South Seattle beach on Memorial Day has been charged with assault.
The Seattle Times reports Cedric Marvin Jackson III was charged with three counts of assault with a firearm enhancement, in King County Superior Court Tuesday.
Prosecutors think Jackson and others “opened fire on unsuspecting families” swimming and barbecuing at the Rainier Beach park from the parking lot above.
Charging documents say prosecutors think Jackson got out of the car and began shooting down into the park.
A 27-year-old woman and her 10-month-old son were shot in a car. A 10-year-old girl was also hit.
Police are still investigating.
Jackson is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail at King County Jail. It wasn’t immediately known if he had a lawyer.
