A prominent free agent for the Wizards is off the board.

Forward Trevor Ariza agreed to a two-year, $25 million deal with the Sacramento Kings when free agency opened Sunday, according to multiple reports. The 34-year-old appeared in 43 games for the Wizards last season, averaging 14.1 points per game.

According to The Athletic, the second year of Ariza’s contract will only be partially guaranteed.

Washington opted not to trade Ariza in February despite being 10 games below .500 and far back of the playoffs.  They now lose him for nothing.

The Wizards dealt for Ariza last season in an attempt to save their season. They traded away forward Kelly Oubre and guard Austin Rivers to the Phoenix Suns and acquired Ariza to help shore up their defense. The Wizards praised Ariza for adding a veteran’s presence, but he was not enough for Washington to make the playoffs.
