President Trump on Monday called for a boycott of cellular service AT&T, saying it would hurt its recently acquired CNN, which he dubbed as “fake news.”

“I believe that if people stoped using or subscribing to @ATT, they would be forced to make big changes at @CNN, which is dying in the ratings anyway. It is so unfair with such bad, Fake News! Why wouldn’t they act. When the World watches @CNN, it gets a false picture of USA. Sad!” he tweeted.

Prior to Mr. Trump’s tweet, CNN’s “New Day” was discussing the president denial of calling Prince Harry’s wife Meghan Markle “nasty” despite recorded audio being played. He is currently in the United Kingdom for a diplomatic visit.

The president’s Justice Department legally challenged a merger between AT&T and CNN’s parent company Time Warner in 2017, saying it would hurt competition.

U.S. District Judge Richard Leon rejected the Trump administration’s claim in 2018.
