WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - A former professor who claims he was treated unfairly at Delaware State University is asking a federal judge to prevent the historically black school from telling jurors about previous discrimination claims.
Jahi Issa’s attorney say racism allegations he made against Elizabeth City State University are not relevant to his second trial against DSU next month, following a partial verdict in the first trial.
They also say any evidence DSU would use to argue that Issa was a subpar employee is irrelevant and prejudicial.
DSU attorneys say they should be allowed to argue that Issa has a pattern of claiming racial discrimination when he doesn’t get his way.
Issa was arrested during a 2012 campus protest.
His claims include suffering post-traumatic stress disorder as a result of workplace harassment at DSU.
