RHINEBECK, N.Y. (AP) - State police say a 92-year-old man has been struck and killed by an Amtrak train in upstate New York.

Troopers say An V. Tran of Poughkeepsie was walking on tracks shortly after 9 a.m. Tuesday between the Rhinecliff and Staatsburgh stations when he was struck by a southbound Amtrak train.

Amtrak officials say 229 passengers were on board and there were no injuries to passengers or crew. The train was held from about 9:20 a.m. until noon. Passengers were given the option to wait for the train to resume its trip to New York City or seek alternate transportation.
