BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - A western New York youth soccer trainer is facing federal child pornography charges after authorities said she exchanged sexually explicit Snapchat messages with a teenager.
Shelby Garigen was charged Thursday in connection with messages prosecutors say she exchanged with a 17-year-old boy on a soccer team she trained.
Prosecutors say the boy’s parents discovered the communication and alerted authorities. Officials say FBI agents posed as the boy online and Garigen sent sexually explicit videos of herself to someone she thought was a minor.
It’s not clear if Garigen has an attorney who can speak for her.
Garigen was the staff trainer for Empire United Soccer Club. TV Station WIVB reports that the club’s executive director said in an email that the club is cooperating with law enforcement.
