TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - The Secret Service is helping the city of Tallahassee figure out how almost a half million dollars was stolen from the city’s payroll.
Investigators say $410,000 of the missing money has been recovered since the city’s third-party vendor was hacked in April.
The Tallahassee Democrats reports that the cyberattack redirected the automatic deposits of 192 city workers into 112 accounts using six different banks.
Detectives with the Tallahassee Police Department and the Secret Service say their investigation is ongoing.
