FOLSOM, Calif. (AP) - A 45-year-old Sacramento County sheriff’s deputy arrested for allegedly having sex with a 16-year-old boy has appeared in court.

The Sacramento Bee reports that during an arraignment on Thursday a judge ordered Shauna Bishop to have no further contact with the teen. Bishop was ordered to return to court July 24. A lawyer for Bishop couldn’t be reached for comment.

The newspaper cites court documents that show the boy is the son of another deputy.

Bishop surrendered to Folsom police last week. She was booked and later released.

An investigation began in May and authorities had obtained an arrest warrant. Bishop faces charges including having sex with a minor, oral copulation with a minor and misdemeanor annoyance of a child.

Bishop is a five-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office.
