OPINION:
If polls mean anything — and generally, they don’t, except as glimpses in time, but this one’s too happy to ignore — then ding, dong, socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s legislative days may soon be dead.
Ice cream cones for everybody. Make that, water bottles.
How valid are the findings though?
Well: The poll was conducted by the Stop the AOC PAC. So there is that.
But then again: “51% hold an unfavorable opinion of her, while just 21% hold a favorable opinion,” Newsmax reported.
So there is that, too.
Moreover, the polling field wasn’t random voters, chosen from around the country — or worse, the even less telling, less accurate landline surveys that ignore large populations and demographics.
No, this survey focused on 2,200 voters in New York District 14 — the very ones she represents. And among its other findings: 33% said Ocasio-Cortez wasn’t looking out for the interests of her constituents by opposing Amazon’s location in the district and 33% said they were going to vote against her in 2020.
Of course, the findings are still too loosey-goosey to draw conclusions of a one-term Ocasio-Cortez.
But we can hope. We can definitely, definitely hope. Hope and remind as many as will listen: Socialists have no place in America’s government. Socialists have no place in American politics. Socialists have no right to represent this democratic-republic called America.
So voting Ocasio-Cortez out is simply doing an American civic duty.
