CRANSTON, R.I. (AP) - The Rhode Island Ethics Commission has cleared the way for Cranston mayor and former Republican candidate for governor Allan Fung to become a part-time radio talk show host.
The Providence Journal reports that the commission’s advisory opinion issued Tuesday came with conditions, including that Fung not make the radio gig a full-time job, and that he not declare a run for any elective position.
If those conditions change, Fung needs to seek additional guidance from the commission.
Fung says he’s had preliminary discussions with WPRO about filling in when regular hosts are unable to go on the air.
Fung says the City Charter prohibits him from holding another paid position in any level of government, but there’s no rule against secondary employment with outside private entities.
