GLOUCESTER, Mass. (AP) - A Massachusetts man charged with carrying his ex-girlfriend into the path of an oncoming dump truck has been indicted, moving his case to Superior Court.

The Gloucester Daily Times reports that 40-year-old Michael Baker, of Ipswich, will be arraigned on charges of attempted murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in Salem Superior Court at a date to be determined.

The charges stem from an incident in Gloucester on April 19 that started with an argument over custody of a 7-year-old girl and ended with Baker picking up the 40-year-old woman and carrying her into traffic.

Both Baker and the woman were hospitalized with injuries. Baker has been in custody since his release from the hospital.

Baker blamed his actions on bipolar disorder.
